So it looks like you need a Victorian gentleman with a canon full of references to Alice in Wonderland, folktales, fairy tales, the Old Testament, and nursery rhymes to come in and doubt all your magical goings-on. I am here to supply him.

This is Cain Hargreaves, Earl of Hargreaves, and he does not go in for all that magic stuff when it happens outside of books. It's all smoke and mirrors and charlatans, which he does not enjoy. But he does enjoy tea, at least when Riff makes it.

Oh, yes. A whole spate of murders were committed by a man known as the White Rabbit. Edith and Lorina were the first to go. Alice survived, though, fortunately. It was all rather grotesque...
